Neung sur Beuvron village
Neung sur Beuvron has 1200 inhabitants and is in the centre of the Sologne des Etangs.
A village has existed in Neung for more than 2 thousand years – it’s not rare to come across roman coins when digging our gardens ! It’s due to its name in Roman times, Noviodunum, that the inhabitants are called Noviodunois.
As the main town of the canton, we have all the shops and services you need for your stay : baker, butcher & charcuterie, grocer, wine merchant, post office, bank with cash machine, chemist …, plus bars and restaurants. See the Neung website for more details.
Neung is ideally situated at the crossing of two axes : Blois – Sancerre (East – West) & Orléans – Bourges (North – South). We are less than an hour away from dozens of great tourist sites, while still retaining the discreet calm of our wild Sologne !
The nearby farms sell local produce which is really fresh (asparagus, goat cheese, wine, strawberries, raspberries & cherries… – each to his own season !) Every autumn, the food fair Journées Gastronomiques, organised in Romorantin, attracts food lovers.
The world-famous chateaux of our region – Blois, Chambord, Chenonceaux, Cheverny – need no introduction …. but don’t deprive yourself of the pleasure of the smaller chateaux and houses that you will find here and there as you tour around. The visit is often fascinating – many are based on the story of one particular person (Talleyrand, for example, whose life is described in the visit to Valençay).
